Annual Chasco Coronation Ball

Choosing a personal injury lawyer is a big decision, and it helps to know who that lawyer is away from the case file. The answer shows up on a high school sideline, at a charity ball, and on Main Street when the sidewalks fill with kids in costume.

At McPherson & Thomas, P.A., we are a small firm with a big heart, and our New Port Richey office sits on Main Street in the middle of downtown. Attorneys Ian Thomas, Jack McPherson, and Scott McPherson serve this community every day, so we give our time and our money to help it grow. Below are the efforts we are proudest of.

Our Community Efforts in Downtown New Port Richey

Our giving looks different from one year to the next, but the goal stays the same, which is to show up for the people and places around us. We contribute time and money to help New Port Richey keep growing and thriving. These four efforts show it in action.

Meal Vouchers for Local Children and Restaurants

In early 2020, Attorney Scott McPherson worried about two groups hit hard by the pandemic, children who counted on school lunches and the newer restaurants in Downtown New Port Richey. Restaurant owners are often asked for donations, so we made clear this was not a donation request. We asked restaurants across Downtown New Port Richey to create meal vouchers at a small discount and still earn a profit, so the program helped them too. We then printed the vouchers and gave them to local public schools to hand out.

Every restaurant we approached said yes. “The response was overwhelming,” McPherson said, and each one designed a custom platter for kids. In the end, we purchased 500 meal vouchers, and our giving during the pandemic passed $20,000.

Standing Behind Gulf High School Football

Gulf High School had to forfeit part of its football season the year before, partly because of outdated helmets. Ahead of the 2021 season, Scott McPherson and Ian Thomas presented the program with a $15,000 check for brand-new, state-of-the-art helmets. Both attorneys played football growing up, so they understood how much safe equipment matters for young athletes.

Our support continues today, as we sponsor the Gulf High School football team year after year. The school is part of our New Port Richey community, and we are proud to stand with its student athletes. We hope those helmets protect players from injuries such as concussions for many seasons to come.

Halloween in Downtown New Port Richey

Each year, we host a Halloween event for Downtown New Port Richey, and we give out free candy all night. In the last couple of years, we have turned our office into a haunted house, so families can enjoy a little spooky fun close to home. It is a simple way to welcome our neighbors through our doors.

Stop by to say hello and grab some candy. You can find this year’s details on the Downtown New Port Richey, Inc. event page.

Sponsoring the Chasco Coronation Ball

We sponsor the Chasco Coronation Ball every year. The ball honors community members nominated by local nonprofits, crowns King Pithla and Queen Chasco, and kicks off the Chasco Fiesta.

The 2026 ball, held at Spartan Manor in New Port Richey, raised more than $75,000 for the Lighthouse for the Visually Impaired and Blind, a nonprofit that educates, empowers, and employs people who are blind or visually impaired. Nearly 360 guests attended, and the evening honored 50 community members nominated by 37 nonprofits.

The 40th Annual Chasco Coronation Ball is set for April 9, 2027. Whether we are handing out candy, backing a football team, or supporting a charity ball, we do it for our neighbors.
