McPherson & Thomas, P.A., a personal injury law firm in New Port Richey, Florida, United State representing automobile accidents victims in New Port Richey and throughout the Tampa Bay area, is pleased to announce its efforts to date to assist the community during the crisis created by Covid-19.
Meal Vouchers for Children in Need
Our first effort to help the Local community was during the early stages of Covid in the first half of 2020, said Attorney Scott McPherson. McPherson went on to state that his first concern was for children who relied on school lunches during the lockdown, but there was also a great deal of concern that all of the new restaurants in New Port Richey would have difficulty surviving. So, an idea came about that we would approach numerous restaurants in the Downtown New Port Richey area and ask them to create meal vouchers that we could print and provide to local public schools to distribute.
As restaurant owners will tell you, they are used to being approached by non-profits looking for donations, so the first thing we had to make clear is this was not a request for them to donate, and that our program was also designed to support them. In fact, we were seeking a slight discount that still generated a profit for the restaurants, while also generating as many vouchers as possible to help children in the community. “The response was overwhelming,” continued McPherson.
“Not a single restaurant approached said “no” to us, and they all came up with a custom platter tailored to children that enabled us to purchase 500 meal vouchers in total.”
McPherson & Thomas, P.A. Purchase New Helmets for Gulf High School
More recently, attorneys Scott McPherson and Ian Thomas presented a $15,000.00 check to the Gulf High School football program for the express purpose of purchasing brand new, state of the art, helmets. Gulf High School had to forfeit part of its season the year before, in part due to outdated helmets. It is our hope that the brand-new helmets purchased will protect the players from injuries like concussions for many years to come.
“Playing football growing up, both Scott and I understood the importance of giving these young men access to new and safe helmets. These new helmets will not only serve to protect current players but will be a key part of the safety for Gulf High football players for years to come,”
